"Oh, i was skylarking with smother bloke, and he hit me with a ju.uk of wood," replied the private. "Did you tell the police about it?" asked the officer. "Oh, no," said the soldier; "he was a cobbor of mine. He started slinging off about having to go to camp and I liH him on the jaw. He did his block and cracked me with the wood." The officer went away to make th» necessary arangements to have the man's head dressed. .
