KING'S THEATRE

At the King's Theatre this evening the proprietary will show (under special arrangement with the General Film Company of Australia) a special "star" feature drama entitled "As in a Looking Glass," the length of which is 4000 feet. • Following is a synopsis of the chief events in the film: "Mrs Despard, widowed and without means, having sent her daughter Lena to the seaside, with the iwid of a young adventuress, conducts a gambling house for the sons of the wealthy Prosperity smiles upon her until her partner, after a severe quarrel, leaves her. She then brings her daughter to the house as a means of attraction. Baron von Bulow falls in love with the giri and offers the mother 50,000 dollars for her hand. Although she knows Lena is already m love she tries to make a match with the Baron -and Lena. They are married and a year passes, when the Baron becomes tired of her company. Lena attacks her mother and vows that the world shall Buffer for this. She obtains a divorce and marries (Alg.y) her former lover, and severs all connections with her former associates* and tries to be a good and loving wife. Her happiness is short-lived, and her former partner finds her, and she ultimately ends her life." _ The supporting programme ' will be found on - page 1 of this issue.
