[ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH, COPYRIGHT.] [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) DAMAGE BY FIRE. Sydney, This Day. Early this morning a fire, causing three thousand pounds worth of damage, occurred in a fivestorey building in Clarence street, occupied by Stuart and Walker, salt merchants, and the Coleman Eucalypti Company. FINES REMITTED. Melbourne, This Day. The fines amounting to £13,500, being the sum total of the ,£OOO inflicted in each of the twentyseven cases against the coal companies in the celebrated "Vend Case," have been remitted. The coal companies paid these lines, but the shipping companies who were involved took the case to the Privy Council, who reversed the judgment of Mi- Justice Isaacs. RESIGNED. Sir .John Fuller resigned the governship of Victoria owing ru ill-health and family reasons. HOT WEATHER. Perth, This Day. The shade temperature was 104, a record for November.
