Feeding Fowls
A light feed in the litter or in the run, ihrown down after the fowls have gone lo roost, is a good idea. They start scratching directing they come out in the morning, and get exercise and warmth. Feed soft mash of pollard about 7.M1) just now, and grain at night. Oats are good for laying hens, and especially for eggs which are to be hatch'ed, as they contain so much lime.
It is not altogether what a hen eats that makes vggs and flesh, but rather what she is able to digest and assimilate.
Cold-storage men claim that brown-shelled eggs, being heavier and thicker, preserve better than white-shelled ones.
Soft-shelled be caused by one of four , conditions: lack of sufficient lime in ihe food ; indigestion : over-fat; fright.
