A most on joyiable time: was passed by the Ladies' Shakespeare Club last evening, tlie occasion being a social gathering by way of farewell to Miss Stuckey and Miss Tonkinson, two members of the club, who have received promotion in their profession, and who loavo Levin in a few days' time. The owning passed pleasantly in social converse and literary competitions. The winners of the competitions, wore Mrs 0. K. Wilson aiul Mrs 11. H. Cork respectively. At Shannon, to-morrow, Woraroa Football Club's lirst (il'teen will play' against Koxton's. The Y\ o: - aroa team consists of: R. IvMjgi, fullback ; Buxton, Hnrniii and Joe, three-quarters; K. Hroughtoli and P. li'>e, five-eights; A. I'ringlo, half; Kangi. wing forward : and H.'Miuiro, IJuku. Wiarena, Whare, Keko, \Y. Mlllll <j and Dick forwards. To maintain interest in this yoar'i competition, the 'Jockey Association .'has regraded the various teams in this district, the first round having been concluded. The following is the amended list:--A Grade: To Horo. Otaki, Kahui. Levin A. li Grade: Kevin B. Y.M.C.A.. Mouto.i, Shannon. The fortnightly meeting of the Levin Debating Society will he held to-night in Mr Williams' tea rooms. Ihe .subject, selected for discussion ("Are the militant, tactics of the Suffragettes justified?") offers an opportunity to local sympathisers to give expression to their views on the moans adopted by the leaders of the movement at Home to obtain their end. The question is one of particular interest to ladies, iand it is anticipated they will be represented by a full attendance.
