The. Shannon Druids met at their hall on Thursday night, when Tiro. W. Law presided. The nomination ')f officers for the ensuing term called forth a large number of candidates, showing how keenly the various seats will be contested on election night, in a fortnight's time. Votes of thanks were passed to Bro. Gardiner (who has ably filled the position of secretary for the past three years) and to Bro. E. J. King, J.P. A. Grant, of the Grand Lodge, will, he present. The. chief item ol the evening was the ritual con-test, in which Bro. V. Jackson acted as .judjic. Bro. H. Williams was first,, with 89 points, Bro C. Crowther second, with 80, and Bro. McLean third, with 78. On next lodge- night the winner will be presented with a trophy, given by Bro. W. Cutler; of Oroua Lodge. FOOTBALL _ Tho Shannon and Tokomaru public school boys had a football match on the recreation reserve on Saturday morning. With its usual luck so far this -eeason, Shannon school

was defeated. Though many of the boys in the local team played a good game, the Tokomaru boys were more than a match for them, and won by 10 points to 3. In tlffe afternoon :• match was played between the Shannon juniors and the fiui Mai juniors, when for si wonder Shannon won, beating their opponents by 2.'3 points to o. The Shannon senior (Association) team nn>t the Tohongana football club at I'ahnerston North, .and beat them by 3to 1. Shannon is recovering lost laurels.
