HON. MR RHODES STIGMATISED

Severance of Moiwhenuia County from tlie Wellington Hospital Board was discussed hy the Horowhenua County Council this morning.

On behalf of the .southern ridings of Horowhenua County Council. Councillors Watson, Monk and Skermaii intimated that they believed tlieir ridings were averse from any proposal to detach them from Wellington Hospital District, though they were agreeable to the two northern ridings joining Palmeiston [ North Hospital District. The conn--1 cil finally resolved "That should the Health' Department object to the transfer of the northern part of this county from the Wellington to the Palmorston North Hospital District, but agree to the transfer of the whole county, and this county :s reasonably unanimous in favour of such change, a united effort be made to bring about such alterations; or failing this, a local bill be prepared. to lay before Parliament ml its next session, with the object of having the ridings of Wirokino and Tokoinaru declared a portion of the Palmerston Hospital District." In speaking to this resolution, one councillor remarked that the Minister in Charge of Hospitals (Hon. Mr Rhodes 1 ) "hod shown himself rathe; a week-kneed jelly fish!" Hear hear, remarked another councillor.
