Tlio Terra Nova arrived at Capo Evans on January 18th of this year, and obtained the following infonnatiou I"i«hi the shore party tlicro:— Captain Scott readied the South Pole on 18th January, 1 ( J12, and found Amundsen's tent an<l records. On the journey tho whole southern party perished. Scott, Wilson and Bowers died from exposure- during a blizzard about 2'Jth March, 1912, at the last cianip, eleven miles south of tlie One Ton Depot, or 155 miles from the hut at Cape Evane. Gates died from exposure on the 17th March. Seaman Edgar Evans died from concussion of the brain on 17th February. The health of the remainder of the expedition was excellent, including Lieutenant Campbell's party, who wintered at Terra Nova Bay.
PATHETIC. Alter two unsuccessful attempts had been made to reach. Scott's party, another search party left Cape Evans after the -winter on 30th October last, organised by Surgeon Atkinson, and consisting of two divi-t'ons--Atkinson taking the -.V? teams with Garrard and Demetri; 1 Mr Wright in charge of tho other \'itv. iiiclu'li'ng Nelson. Gran Las'i!e\\ Croan, Williamson, Iveohane and Hooper, with seven Indian mules. They were provisioned for 'three mouths, expecting an extended .search. On 12th November Wright's party sighted .Scott's tent. "\7Tthin it wore found the bodies of Captain 10. I' , . Scott, Royal Navy Doctor E. A. Wilson, Chief of Scientiiic Staff mi! LONDON, Feb. 1,1. Lieutenant Atkinson collected the ■ccoixls and clfocts of Scott, including £5 ami valuable geological speoiincr.ts. and read the 'burial service over the bodies. He then had erectMi a cairn and cross over tho inner tent wherein ho buried tho bodies He searched for twenty miles ■southward for Oates. and did not find the body. He erected a cairn in tlio vicinity.The records with Scott included Amundsen's letter from the King c-f Norway.
