(Nation, the coroner lor the district, held, an inquiry concerning the doatb ol' uji infant, 18 mouths' old, named Wirimu Apiato, whofce body was iound by ita mother 011 Monday in a shallow part of tlio \Yaikawa river, nea-r the dwelling house of the family. The mother deposed that about two o'clock 011 Monday afternoon sho missed the child for about half an hour an<l went to look for him. She went to the river, aud the boy lamo Naera, who went with her, found the body in eighteen iuclies of water. ' Bhe took the child out, but it was dead, and she carried it home. It was only La If an hour from tlio time she missed him until she found him. He had been playing about the house with other children. lame .Naore, a lad of thirteen years of age, deposed to finding the foody in a shallow of the river on iMon'tky, and calling the mother s attention to it. Tho mother took tTie child out of the water and carried'it Jibing: ;It. was dressed whoa he saw it. : - The coroner returned a vcrdict 0} •"Accidental death by drowning."
