Stock Sales.

1 A DULL DEMAND. Yesterday's stock sales at Levi; were under the shadow of the si a ugh tv mien's strike, and bidding was re stricted. Some of the regular buy ers of stock wero under instruction! not to purchase a single head, am the unattached buyers were "shy' of the chances of bargains that offer ed themselves to those who woulc buy on the assumption that to-day'; conference in Wellington, betweer employers' .and workers' tives, would settle the dispute. Tli< reluctance to purcliifise was mosi clearly apparent in the sheep divi sion, though pigs wore dull of salt also. We quote:— Two-tooth ewes and wethers to 13s; fat cows (light weights), to L 5 7s Gd; forward cows, to LI 2s Gd; weaner calves, to 20s; young bulls, to 27s Gd. Competition was keen for all classes, and prices showed an advance of at least Jd per lb, stores and slipu showing an advance of Is (id to 2s per head on last quotations. I'rices realised as follows:— Porkers, heavy, 35s to 365; medium porkers, 30s Gd to 31s Gd; light porkers, 27s 6d, 295, to 30s. Haveners, light, 50s Gd; forward stores, 24s Gd to 2Gs Gd; small stores, 20s fid; weaners, 14s 6cl to 15s; sow and litter, GOs. Hens, 2s Gd to 2s 8d per pair. Peaches, 3s Gd, -Is to 4s Gd per case.
