In the Assembly the Government was questioned whether it intended to borrow £1,500,000 in order to complete the three million loan, of which amount half was recently secured. Tho State Treasurer (Mr Caun) replied in the affimative. NAVY AND EMPIRE. MELBOURNE, This Day. In the House Mr .Bruce-Smith asked whether correspondence lifld passed between the Right Hon. A. Fisher (Federal Premier) and the Imperial Government regarding the Australian fleet and securing the concentrated control of tho naval forces of the Empire. Mr Fisher replied that tho Government did not consider that the. present policy governing naval unity should be departed from. Tho extension of that principle of defence was considered the best for the Commonwealth and all parts of tho Empire. He ntided that no correspondence had taken place with a view of changing tho general policy of tho Government. The question of concentration would be determined by cvente which at present could not be forseen.
