An Unpleasant Ineident.

[PBU PRESS ASSOCIATION-] Auckland, This Day. Three young men, who were travelling to Te Aroha from Paeroa in a railway carriage, were accosted by a man wearing long streamers of red ribbon, who wanted them to keep away from alhi in order to save trouble. It is alleged that the command was emphasised by the production of a revolver by the man, who threatened to shoot one of the young men, a Maori, if he was not a Federationist. The Maori, almost scared to death, asserted that he was not bound for Waihi. When the train reached Paeroa the man jumped off the carriage, tore the ribbons from his coat, and bolted. The intruder, it is further stated, produced a bottle and said it contained poison, adding, * This will do me if I am nabbed."
