IN DEFENCE OF LABOUR.
(To the Editor). Sir,—Mr James I'rouse's remarks about hounding labour men away from Mr James Prouse's sight. This is an old complaint of liis; Lhey interfere Willi his political chloroforming of the peple. His complaint, like the Whakarewa geysers sind mud puddles, has an occasional blow out. The latest blow-out, in the Chronicle of 20th, has reached near, er the skies than any. To n certain extent ho is only .showing the tactics that his party will adopt at the next elections, viz.: point to snch cases as Waihi, saddle the local agitator's cause (not the greedy dividend drainer) and tho fS snfc" party's sale old horse is in I He darkly hints that these syndicalists find Socialists have some awt'ul concealed claws, etc. As a matter of fact their views are exactly the opposite. They are on the democratic side, as Mr James Prouso's are on the Tory side : neither more nor less, with this difference: that their ethics are sounder and that Mr I'rouse is far more intolerant til a n they are. Therefore it would he fairer to ''hound" him around the hill* on a search for gold to enrich other people as punishment for his Action in advocating hounding from his presence men who merely hold different politi al views flinn In'mcnlf
