A deputation from the National League Opposed to Womens 5 Suffrage asked the Premier to submit the question to a referendum before legislating. Tihte Premier stated that while lie was opposed to the referendum he thought in this instance it might be satisfactorily used, ■because the question cut at heart all party lines.
