AUCKLAND, October At a. special meeting of the Wailbi Miners' Union on Saturday evening a communication was received to the effect that, in the event of restoration (of licenses being carried in Ohinemuri at the forthcoming local option poll, tihe retail profits derived from the sale of liquors in the local hotels would be devoted to the union

funds. Considerable discussion followed, and finally it was resolved unanimously, "That the union take no action in the matter."

Tt- must "be -po'inted out (in face of published rumours to tho contrary) that the Waihi union never made any proposal in "the matter, nor did it discuss the question till Saturday evening last.
