The first portion' of the sale was; the putting up to auction of the dmiry cows. Competition was keen, and o.xcoptionally good prices wore obtained. The fact was made clear Mi at where there is really siood stock, goo dftrices are. realised', and the- opinion was universally expressed that the dairy cows were a splendid lot. A leading farmer ci Hip district expressed- tho opinion to a Ohmiicle. reporter that Aerv great credit was duo to Mr J. Drysdale, the manager of the- farm, for ihe magnificent herds ho is raising. On the conclusion of tho sata ni dairy cows, ;i large number of purebred pigs wore offered, and realised good prices. .. Every pig was sold. Fnder the guidance of Mr Drysdale the company inspected the ni ilk slic :T and appliances, and also the draught horses, which were oreatly ■admired. Tho whole, of the purebred Tlolstein .ho-rd was also inspected, and some very eulogistic opinions were r'xpro.sed. It was held that Mr Drysda.le was proceedinc: on the right lines in going in only for pit rob rods, especially as tho estate would be able to supply farmers with purebred stock.
