EVENTS IXSHAXXON (Chronicled by our Resident Representative.) The weekly meeting of the Shannon Literary and Debating Society, last Tuesday evening, wa, devoted to impromptu speeches. Mr Clayton occupied t-ho chair. The question, "Is dripping better for making pastry than butter?" was lor ladies only. Miss Wickliffe, backed by Mrs FitcheU, favoured dripping, and the meeting also favoured dripping. '(The high price of butter during recent months might have boon an influence).
