SOUTHERN MARKETS. OAMARU, September 0. There aro small supplies of wheat, and the market at the beginning of tho week opened linn, but slackened tlf towards tho end. It is reported that, should the high prices prevail, flour will be imported from Australia,. whero it is much cheaper than here. Sales worn made for red chaff al 3s <h1 to 3s 9d on trucks at coumtr\ stations, and velvet and red chuff at 3s 9d all round. There are no supplies of oats. A small lot clianged hands at 2s !)d on trucks ,at country stations. Little is doing in potatoes, and prices remain .at IHs to nOs. Kggs are plentiful, and .selling at 8d per dozen. .Butter has been linn. Tho supply however, is increasing. Separator was selling at Is and~d>airy a.t 10d, but to-day was expected to sec drop in prices.

Mr A\ r . J. Evading, of Levin., intends to have an auction sale of his herd of dairy cows, on account k)f the number being beyond, his present milking ability .Details will ho announced at an early date.

Among those who were unable to !>-. present at the Old Settlors' social on Friday was Ir R. Johnson, a mom her of th o committee. His absence was duo to illness. Altogether sonio 210 invitations were despatched to settlers.
