Joseph Pawelka made a second escape from Wellington Terrace Gaol early this morning some time between 1 .and b' o'clock.
He bodily forced his way through a. small grating out of his cell.
The grating opened into tho yard and, favoured by darkness, he got clean aw<i.v.
Later, a milkman reported having seen a man in white near Kelburiie p.vwtM'house. running towards the Botanical Gardens.
A man reports having seen a person corresponding in description to i'awelka. hurrying .along a Hutt bystreet 111 the direction of Wainui bush.
It is stated that the grating was screwed on from the outside of the. cell, and inspection showed that the screws had been removed, and the holes filled with putty, so that all Pawolka bad to do was to force the grating through at a convenient moment.
