Mr Holman, replying, attacked Mr Hugiies and "declared that three matters out of five in the referenda proposals were not in the Labour platform, and were not binding o n members of the party. Ho contended that the State party wa.s not bound to follow the. .HYderal Government in matters not in the platform. The speech wa« greeted witli cheers.

After the Conference adjourned, Mr Holma.li stated that the Government 'had every reason to be pleased at the attitude adopted.
