ANCKLAND, August 22. In the Judge's Chambers in the Supreme Court, a young woman, aged 20, petitioned! under the Marriage Act, 1905, for an order declaring that a marriage she desired, to enter into with l a mnni of 21 was proper. Her mother, a widow, refused her consent, though dt was shown that the man was of good character, and earning sufficient to keep a wife. The only reason the mjother addiucod was that the man had no home to take his prospective wife to. Mr Justice Edwards made an order as requested. Tflws is tflie first time such an application has been made in Auckland.
