Mr George Perkins, a director of the United States Steel Corporation, on being examined by the Congressional Inquiry, which is investigating the affairs of the Steel Trust, refused to .answer questions relating to his private contributions to political campaign funds, and also as to the comtributions made by tho New York Life Insurance Company. The committee warned Mr Perkins that he was likely to be imprisoned for contempt of Congrevss if he persisted. Mr Perkins thereupon asked for time to reconsider his refusal. His request was granted.
