The All-Comers kfcked off. and the ball was kept evenly on the field for some time, till Smith (who .showed that he was no amateur in running and passing) carried the ball down the vicinity of the combined team's goal, and here the game became very fast, Moynihan and Foster aiding the efforts of Smith. The spectators vociferously 'barracked for " Brickoy." The combined team Were at last saved by a free kick atthp 25 flag. Buekman followed this up, and the ball was soon in the vicinity of the All-Comers' goal, but this was only momentary. W. Moynihan had a short run, and passed tlio ball, which was carried by Smith half way down the field Some exciting play here took place. Bunckley getting a gocd run in, but Montey laid him out. (Montey is good at collaring— he is used to picking leghorns off the roost). Some good strong play by King, Martin, Bovis, Gunning and Buckman brought the leather nearer to the goal of the All-Comers, ami Prosser, with a fit of dodging, got over the line and secured a. try, but failed to convert. This score had a splendid effect on the All-Comers. They at once made strenuous efforts to get even with their opponents. Smith was again to the fore with his splendid passing. He was strongly assisted by King and Foster. The game was at this stage fast and furious. Bunckley at last' got his clranco, and with a. fast rim he landed a try, whicih Moynihan failed to convert. After this the game was carried down to the goal of the combined team, until Merwood, who played a good game throughout, managed to get <a good; run, and things were looking well for ihim until' collared by Buckman. There was not escaping Buckman, when he laid hands on his man. Just before the time whistle was blown Bunckley made a good run, but was laid out by Montey in approved style. The score stood at -3 to 3 at the end of the'first spell. Tn the second spell Bovis kicked off, but the ball was soon returned t*> the quarters of the Combined, and it was only through Montey marking that danger was averted. This was only for a time, the All-Comers soon had the Combined on. the defensive, and Kennedy secured a try, hut the kick at goal failed. This left the scores at: All-Comers, f>; Combined, 3. Thomson, who had played a good game all ailong put forth a last effort. Tn this he was strongly backed by Gunning and Bnckman, but all in vain. When the whistle sounded the score was not altered, thus leaving the Allcomers the conquerors of a hardfought game.
