Poultry Notes.
Exihibitore must watoh carefully the moulting of promising show birds. For the early shows it may be found necessary to force the moult. This may he done iby letting a ducky pullet .hatch out a Sbrood, then take the chicks away in a week or two and feed up well. Birds that do not go broody should he shut up in warm pens and given a lowering diet for a week or two, then chiefly feed on hard grain and plenty of green food. Soft food shouid be, given sparingly to birds required to be hard in feather. Pullets fit for show should not be encouraged to lay, for show birds andi utility birds are very different. Shifting them frequently into strange pens will discourage tlio laying.
Any ibirds that are backward should) be seen to. If it is a caso of being bullied and not getting their aliar© of the food, this may be remedied by giying .the backward ones their meala separately and an occasional tonic and plenty of green food.
Some poultrymen use resin in dressing poultry, claiming that by its use they can do -fche work quicker and more thorough. The fowl is first dipped in cold water, then with a perforated can powdered resin is sprinkled all over the feathers. The fowl is then scalded in the usual manner, and the whole coat ~ pin, feathers arid all-—at is said, ioomes off very easily in the mass, and the job is complete. It does not in the least affect the appearance of the skin. ,-,,..
