DATE OF THE ANNUAL SHOW,

The annual meeting of the Horowhenua Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held on Saturday afternoon in the Diiuids , Hall, Levin. Mr J. Keibbell, the president, presided over a large gathering oi members. The animal report and balance sheet, which have already appeared in these columns, were taken as read. THE ANNUAL REPORT. In moving their adoption the chairman made some brief comments. He said he did not think there was very much to call attention to. na had heard some remarks outside about the sundry accounts, but they were only a small amount. The Own. secretary (Mr B. R. Gardener) remarked that he could give all particulars, and read out tiln amounts. •Mr J. Davies: Tt is not worth considering. (Applause). The chairman, (continuing) said, that he would: have liked to have seen a better balance at the end o< the year. Of course, the assets fa.r exceoded the liabilities, and as regarded the shed, timber ant* yards the secretary informed him they had' written 20 per cent off them so as not to create a false value. If they were removed they would, not be worth what they were standing. Mr J. Davies thought the position of the Association was a very creditable one. Mr H. J. Richalrds seconded the motion for the adoption of the reix>rb and balance siheet and the same was unanimously agreed to. GRATEFUL EXHIBITORS. Mr F. Roo observed that last yea) exhibitors liad expressed an opinion iii favour of a two days show. He thought if the exhibitors could' arrange to be in Levin by the mid-day train the previous day, .s that everything could be got in otrder, it would be a very good thing. % He moved that the exhibitors bo' circularised as to whether they could not get in their stock the previous day. Mr 'McLeavey seconded the motion, which was adbpted. SYMPATHY. Mr McLeavey at this junctim. moved a. vote of condolence with Mi Gillies (of Palmerston North) in the death of his wife.
