DEVELOPMENT OF LEVIN
AND HOROWHENUA COUNTY
THE NEW MOVEMENT
FORMATION OF SUB-COMMIT-TEES.
The committee appointed at tho public meeting in connection with the different subjects under discussion last Tuesday, met at . th,o Borough Chambers 011 Friday night. Those present were Messrs • Gaidener (chairman), Richards, Smart, Fosella, Turner, Malcolm, Palmer, Williams, Plum,ridge; Lancaster, O. Williams, Butler, Wilson, Howell, C Palmer, Dr Mackenzie. It was proposed by the Mayor, and seconded by C. Williams, that Mr George Cameron be appointed secretary of the organisation, the committee •guaranteeing payment for his services. This was agreed to. It was proposed by Dr .Mackenzie, seconded liy Mr H. J. Richards, that the following namos lie added to the general committee: —Messrs Bartholomew, T. Bevnn, jun., 11. Newport, R. H. Bowers, W. B. France, Blackburn and Park. This iwas agreed to'. Mr Lancaster proposed, and Dr. Mackenzie seconded, that tho question of periodically testing qf cows be urged. This was agreed, td.. It was proposed by Mr Richards, and seconded by Mr Lancaster, -that the question of establishing, ahbatoirs be considered. This was agreed to. , Mr Fosella ' proposed, and Mr Smart seconded, that the auestion of fruit culture and bee 1 aiming be discussed in connection with tho canning factory. It was proposed' by Mr Bowers, and seconded by Mr Howell, that the iM>ultry industry receive duo consideration by the committee. The motion was agreed l to. The following sub-committees were appointed to bring 211 reports in connection with tho vairious subjects under discussion:—
Prospecting: 'Messrs C. Williams, E Lancaster, J. Malcolm, J. McLeavey, W. Palmer and Dr. Mackenzie.
Sugar Beet: Messrs Newport, Turner, Fosella, Plumridge ami Dr Mackenzie.
Linseed: Messrs J. Howell, Newport, Fosella, Turner, T. Bevan. jun.
Closer Settlement: Messrs C. Palmer, Butler, Smart, T. Williams, Bowers, Lancaster, Fl-flnce, Bartholomew.
Abattoirs and Cow Testing : Messrs Richards, Butler, Wilson, m fe 1 ?' 16 ' Lancaster, Smart and i- Williams,
Fruit, Beo and Canning Factory: Messrs Fosella, Newport, Butler, Blackburn, Barron, McLoavcy ami Park.

The committees will meet at the Borough Chambers on the following nights Prospecting, Tuesdays » o clock; Linseed and Sugar Beet, Wednesdays 8 o'clock; Closer Settlement, Thursdays 8 o'clock; Ahattoii's and Cow Testing, Fridays 8o clock; Poultry, Saturdays '8 o clock; Fruit, Beo and Caaininnr Monday, 2Gth. ' The sub-committees will report to a general meeting on Friday, the oObh inst.
This ended one of the most enthusiastic committee meetings over held in Levin. The Mayor was appointed ex-officio member of all com mittees.
