EVENTS IN SHANNON. (Reported by "Tho Chronicle , *" Resident Representative.) Messrs A. and L. Seifert's Miranui Mill commenced their night shift on Monday night. They have now s-ix strippers running throughout the day and three during the night.
Our station master, Mr Tuohy, who is at present on Ms annual holidays, is being relieved by Mr Stansell.
The Cntholirs held thoir fourth monthly social on Friday night. It proved cjuiio as successful as its predecessors in spite of the dancing season drawing to a close. Mr J. Curran filled the office of M.C., and Professor Kearsley, of Levin, supplied tho music. ' The cantata by the children of the Methodist Sunday School promises to 1)G a great success on Wednesday. Mrs A. Samiders, of Moutoa, has been busy preparing, them for some time past. The concert is to be supplemented by quite a number of items by talent entirely new to Shannon.
