A concert was held in the Druids' Hall on Wednesday night in aid of the building fund of the Children's Hospital, Wellington. The entertainment proved to be of a very high order, in fact one would not be wrong in saying the best that I has been presented to the public of Shannon. The Roys' Rand from the State School Farm, at Levin, contributed several items whidli wow greatly appreciated. Mr J. Rogers, who possesses an exceptionally fine tenor voice sang "I seek thee everywhere," for which lie received an encore, and later ]ie and .Miss Ruby Stnnsell were heard to advantage in "Oia Pro Nobis.'' Mr J. Webb, of Tokomaru (brother of the famous sculler) recited "How MeDougall topped the score." He is an elocutionist of ability, and showed to advantage in some of liis later recitations. Shannonit.es'hope to have the pleasure of hearing him again. Mr Bach, of Auckland, sang " f Plie Deathless Army" in fine style ,and later obliged with "Queen of the Earth." Mr Harry Palmer of Palmerston North, proved himself a very pleasing contributor to the evening. He is a comedian of no mean ability. His song "Remembrance." and the funnv stories he told, were received with applause. He was also verv good in clever monologue entitled "Mr lipe. • Professor Leo. Ashkers was particularly entertaining in his bird impersonations and shadowgraphs, which wore entirely new to Shannon. The musical part of the programme closed with Mr J. L. Stansell singing the old favourite song "Bombay." An enjoyable dance followed, for which Mr'Geo'. Jiny field, of Levin, supplied the music, and Mr J. R. Stansell idled the position of M..C. .in a very ahle manner. Special thanks are due to the artists, who in many eases put themselves to considerable inconvenience to contribute to tin programme.
