The chairman and the Lev Mr Ohodowski, of Dunedin, disagreed with the proposal in the Bill that inspectors should wear ■uniform. The latter delegate held that inspectors should not be able to bo recognised. The chairman thought the Bill would have a bctte • chance of passing if a member of the Cabinet could be indiucad to tfike charge of it. On flie motion o' the Rev. Mr Chodowski, it was resolved that the conference do not discuss the Bill, but consider suggestions for better methods of preventing cruelty, the result of .such suggestions to lie submitted to the G< vernment.
