A fatal accident occurred, at bhe Gear Meat Co.'s works, Potono, this morning. .Joseph jihoddis. an elderly married man, was opening ni ; . one of the digesters and neglected to take the precaution to .see that the steam and gas had escaped, with tihe result that lie was Mown 30 feet high and then fell to the floor head foremost. Re was killed instantly .Some of his clothing was found on a rafter agninst which ihe had been hurled with terrific force.
