The .sense of justice was strong in King Edward. Some years aer> a valuable ring was missed from the chamber of a guest in the palace, and suspicion fell upon one of the maids. Long afterwards the furniture of the- room occupied by the visitor was sent to an upholsterer, who found, the missing ring under the cushions. The discovery was reported to His Mairsty. who innniMli.ntely split for the housekeeper and asked what had become of the nnid. Tt was told that she had been dismissed long a<ro. Greenstone lias since tho early day.s been found in various parts of tho Coast. An extraordinary largo block has recently been unearthed at Callaghans, the historic mining settlement situate between \VaimtNt and Stratford. Messrs Havill and party last week, in their sluicing cla.iin, laid bane a mammoth greenstone boulder, measuring seven feet long and averaged in thickness from eighteen inches to four feet, an<l weighing approximately two tons. This particular .stone .should Drove a good one. I ,, nun all appearances it is flawless, being absolutely free from extraneous strata so commonly found in greenstone of a larger size. Fragments broken off go to show that tho stone is light in colour and of a limpid nature. Light greenstone, is highly prized by the lapidarists and the lucky miners .should obtain a hiigh price for their find. We understand that this is the first time in the history of the Coast that greenstone has been found an such large size free from faults.
