CHFLDHKX'H FANCY DRESS
DANCE
" Phyllis,' 'in yesterday's New Zealand Times, records that on Friday evening last. Miss Bartholomew gave an enjoyable children's fancy dress dance. The large, diningroom was cleared for dancing and supper was lai don the verandah. Prizes were given for the best fancy dresses. Miss Greeba Wallace was the winner of the girls' prize. (which was a dainty purse), her costume representing "Powder and Patches," and Wing carried out in black velvet. Her hair was piled high and powdered, and threaded with pearls, with a large silver buckle on the left side. Master Gilbert Adkiiii won the hoys' prize (a pocket-knife). He was splendidly got up as a swagger, his costume being complete with "bluey," "billy," etc., even down to what appeared to be several months' growth of beard. Miss Lily Bartholomew's dress was o. blue muslin, representing a "bluebell." Miss Alma Reeve was "Dawn," hei frock being <j4' palest pink with stars and the new moon, wliile in her hair she wore a "comet." Miss Edna Clark was a "Lady of Sixteenth Century," wearing a frock of yellow satin, With her hair done in. the correct style. Miss Flo Gardener as "Bopcep" looked very sweat. Amongst others were Miss M. Adkin, "Gipsy"; Miss F. Valker, "Japanese Lady"; Master Rupert Rurlinson, "Mexican Cowboy"; Master J. McKenzie, 'Hkrhlaiider" ; Master Ken Roe, "Cupid" ; J. Bartholomew, "Smuggler"; G. Gardener. "Jockev"; W. Clark, "Tennis" ; T. Clark. "Cricket"; J. McInivre, "Druid": M. McTntyre, "Cook."
