A correspondent writes as follows to the .Melbourne Argus:—A resident of .Now South Wales, who went to Alberta, in Canadaj to settle there on the laud, .after some eighteen moniths' experience of the cold returned and wrote out the account oi his efforts to keep warm of a night, and the clothing ho had on. The following is a copy of the paper:—"At oUdeg. 'below zero in Alberta. Heavy fleece-lined underclothing—four pairs souks, one bicycle stocking, two trousers, foiu 1 sweaters, two coats, one fur cap. three padded quilts, two blankets, one dressing gown over feet. Fire going nearly all night. The toes on left foot frozen by morning. Kxperienced in February, 11)07." He is a young man, in the primo of life, powerfully built, and was capable of enduring extremes of either heat or cold.
