A RAHUI CLUB FUNCTION,

At Otalci, tho Raliui Cricket Club held a social gathering to celebrate the club's successes in winning the principal events of last season, including the shield presented by Mr Hugh Hall and the cup donaltot by Mr \V. Uevnn, senior. A most, enjoy/aible evening was spent, though the attendance was only fair. Mr Myron Itrown, who presided, rejul ''telegrams from Messrs A. McMain and Hugh Hall, who were unavoidably absent. The absence of the two_ was to be regretted, said the chairman. f-t was the first time Mr Hall had not been i,u lalt/tondanco to present the shield.

Tho toast of tho "Ilorowhenua Cricket Association" was then proposed by Mr S. Cook, and responded to by Mr Mark Ayro, who, in his remarks, regrotlted tho poor attendance, at the same time eulogising tho good work done by the Association. The last season had boon an improvement on tho previous one, and he hoped next season would be oven more successful. Credit was due Ito Mr McMeokan for tiro club's success.

Tlio oliairma.il, in calling upon Mr F. Morton Bright to present tho shield, refwred to Mr Hall's generous gift, and said it was right that his namo .should not bo forgotten. He invited all to drink to tho health and prosperity of Mr Hall. Unfortunately, ho said, tho district was ,not blessed with generous donors, and when such were found it was only right thev should bo honoured.
