CORRESPONDENCE.
[Our correspondents' opinions are their own; tho responsibility of editorial ones inakes sufficient ballast- for the editor's -shoulders.] LAST NIGHT'S FIRE. To tho Editor. Sir,—A few hints such as these I do not think would be out of place to the Firo Brigade:— iXo. 1: Have only men in tho britrade that are reliable; half the brigiulo slept right through tho fire last night, although tho bell rang out a second pea! long after the first long peal. N0.2: Practico hoso , coupling neatly. Last night one coupling n.t the connection gave forth a, volume of water, and consequently tho water had to 'be shut off and they had to l)o re-coupled. This caused loss of time when time was most valuable. 'So.'.) :'" Thoroughly test all hose, as there were many big leaks last night. No. 4: Get a thorough knowledge of where all the ma.in connections are, and don't let last night's fiasco occur again, viz: having to run for a pick and pick up the stre-et to find them. See that the _ authorities have them plain and visible for you. Hoping these few remark's will be of some use.—Yours, etc., " CTVTS."
