NEWS FROM SHANNON. (Chronicled by our Resident Representative.) TENNIS AMENITIES. Miss Mason, was successful in winning .Messrs Murray and Ford's trophy for tennis last Wednesday. The final game was very evenly contested between .Miss Mason and Mrs Esson, the former winning by the .small margin of onw point. On Friday night tho Shannon Tennis Club held its second annual euchre party and dance, which was voted by all to he the most enjoyable function this season. Mr T. C. Dnnekley won the gentlemen's prize, and Miss Silvester the ladies'. Much amusement was caused 'by Mr Galland and Miss L. Curran winning the booby prizes. Mr Kearsley played the music for the dance that followed, -and Mr W. Schmidt carried out the duties of M.C. to a nicety. Over 00 were present, including a number of visitors from Levin, Foxton and Palni'orston. A sumptuous "sit down" supper was provided by the ladies. .Air .J. H. Schmidt, the secretary of the club, is to be complimented for the ihard work he put in to make the gathering the success it undoubtedly was. BACK' FHOM AUSTRALIA. Mr and Mrs R. H. Weihh, of " Miranui" returned from Sydney last'week after a very enjoyable trip. A SATISFACTORY RESULT. Tho nett result of tho recent bazaar held here in aid of Mother -Mary's Homo of Compassion was eiuG. _ A tight game was played here on Saturday between Foxton Albion Club and Shannon, which resulted in a draw, both sides scoring -three points.
