There was a large crowd to meet him, and another equally large one at. the courthouse. When the accused alighted from the train he was handcuffed between two policemen, and was closely attended by a warder and other members of the police force. As ho walked along the platfonn, one of the crowd called out: "You're a hero, Pawelka!" a remark the prisoner acknowledged with smiles. Paw'olka, appeared before the court at noon on a charge of breaking and entering a butcher's shop at Terrace End in July last, and taking a steel valued at 10s Gd. _ Other charges will follow.
