RAILWAY PORTER IN TROUBLE.
■ • — [I'KR PREBR ASSOCIATION.] DUXEDIX, April 21. Albert Whitmoro Chirnside, railway porter, was charged in the Magistrate's Court this 'morning with stealing a handbag containing jewellery to the value of £200, the property of Agnes Henderson. According to the Statement of the chief detective, the hag and jewellery Were taken from a railway train in_ November last, when the hag was left in the train. Yesterday a portion of tho stolen property, valued at £20 -Is, was lon ml in possession of the accused. A remand was granted for eight days, to enable enquiries to bo made ■as to the rest of the missing jewellery.
