Sir Hubert Anderson, in a letter to tlie Times, explains that but for a typist's .accidental omission of the words "the month of May," his confession of authorship would have been as restricted as was intended hv the Times' article in May, 1887. Those were based on newspaper reports. His aim had been, to defeat the plot to cause a dynamite explosion at Westminster Abbey on the occasion of the late Queen Victoria's Jubilee.
