An additional class has been added to the schedule of prizes for the Levin. Horticultural Society's Autumn Show, which is to be held next week. It is in the home industries section, nnd rends "Class'2o3 : White bread, 21b loaf; 3s. 25." The secretary to the- society (Mr Fry) will be <vt the Century Hall, to receive entries, on Saturday next, between the hours of from 2 to 5 in the afternoon, and 7t09 in the evening. A good deal of interest is being taken in the show, and hopes-are entertained that not only Levin, but the whole, of the Horowhenua District, will bei represented in the competitors, as well as in the sightseers.

DISAPPEARANCE

Leader's well-known painting, "Surrey's Pleasiwit Hills" has, for a second time within two years, disappeared from the Academy of Fine Arts, Wellington. It was i"l to the city bv Mrs S. A. Rhodes, who purchased it for about £500. It is exactly two years since it was stolen before, and on that occasion it was ransomed by « payment of £50 to some unknown person.
