Boxing.
"Tommy" Hums, whose preparation for his contest with "Bill". Lang on Easter Monday night, had been going smoothly and satisfactorily, was compelled to seek medical advice yesterday week with regard to some internal trouble, which could not be acconntod for till Dr Maitland was seen, and he at once said, after the symptoms had been explained, that Burns had eaten some irritant food, and, learning that cucumber was a favourite vegetable with him—partaken of at least once, and often twice, daily— said the trouble was, beyond question, attributable to that cause. Burns felt somewhat better a day or two later, and looked it. consequently it is more than likely he may be able to resume training with as much heart as ever, and as the convincine date will be still some days ahead, the bad effects of the compulsory break may no doubt be overcome. He was unable to train for nine davs.
