Shearshy, takes Plantation, Passive and Royal Maid to Feilding on Saturday to take part- at the Autumn Meeting of the Feilding Jockey Oluh. which takes place on Monthly and | Tuesday next. This trainer lias I ljeen out of luck for some time, and local sports would like to see his charges annex a lew stakes at the meeting, especially as it would not lie out of their turn. NOTES. * Wairarapa and Auckland commence their Easter Meetings on Saturday. The A.J.C. Meeting opens nt Sydney on Saturday, and will be continued till the 2nd of April. Mr Lowrv. the Hawke's Ray sportsman has Bobrikoff and Downfall engaged at this meeting, so New Zealanders will have a special interest in the racing. Mr F. Cannont takes Celebrity through to Foilding for the Seurr.v, which is run on the second day. The chestnut gelding is very fit at "'resent, and should run well. The following notes are taken from the column written by "Observer," of the Hawera Star:— Tiptoe is in daily exercise on the roadsides, which are fairly good leading to the tracks. Mendip is doing well in a grass paddock during the daytime, and will not race again until the Manawatu meeting in April. ft is in the wind that Maggie Paul will not journey to Feilding. She jumped back at the rise of the barrier in Opunake Handicap, and thus defeated her own chance. Grey Dawn is fining down gradually, and may be able to race in the winter. Maharanni appears to be going on the right way. and the going from now onward softened by rains should serve him well. That wonderful old so'ger, Toddy, who at one time served Mr Syd. Pitt well, has now gone into D. Knight's stables. Another that has been added to that trainer's string is Twinkle, who is one of the best typos for a Grand Nationaler that is to be seen about. Te Puia, Red Wing, Lauy Mansehikoff and Coronetted compose the Hawera team for Feildiing, to leave oil Saturday next. Sixty-throe races have been won by locally-trained horses to date this season.
