HOSPITAL BOARD ELECTIONS.
A QUIET POLL. .MESSRS GART)ENER AND TOMPSTTT ELECTED. Voting took place yesterday for i.lie election of members to represent Horowhenua District on the Wellington District Hospital and Charitable Aid Hoard. There was very little to indicate during the. day tliat issues of considerable hnportance were being decided, and ;i good many ratepayers did not ■take the trouble to record their votes. The polling booths wore open from 9 a.m. to (5 p.m., at which time counting began. Mill. E. Lodge, the - Returning Officer, received tlm {Hires during the evening a.nd published them immediately on arrival. The iw*iilfs were as follows: - Gardener ... 315 Tompsitt ... 29 J Venn ... 253 Hollo ... llfi Mr Gardener (the Mayor of Levin) and Mr Tnmpsit.t were, therefore, de-lare'l duly ele: lir.L An analysis of the votes shows tha* there were cast for the. Mayor at tlie County Offices 230 votes, for Mr Venn 117, for Mr Tomnsitt 107, ai d for Mr Rollo 51. Mi* Tompsitt polled heaviest in Otaki, receivi'v 91 votes, Mr Hollo being second with -18. Tn Olinii the voting was: Tompsitt 21, Gardener 1-!, V:"n 8. Hollo 3.
