■ On Fridav last this company gave an exhibition nine miles oil the wrong side of Foxton, to one man jind a horse. In an ordinary way two hours is the duration of an entertainment, but on this oc"asion. the company devoted seven hours in rain and in ml, and near midnight got their iron horse to go. On Friday next they are determined to put in an early appearance to retrieve their lost colours. and to regain the confidence of the public of Levin. They are again giving their audience n chance of winning the £1 prize, and are publishing a complete programme in Friday's issue of the " Chronicle." THE BESSES-cF-TH'-BABN BAND Tho box plan opened auspiciously yesterday, and a prosperous season is assured for the Besses,,, who appear at the Century Hall, Levin, on Monday evening' next. Seats may be booked at Mr IMiil-' lips'. The hand has earned the admiration of multitudes in other lands and, mirabile dictu, have made musicians unanimous in the praises of the splendid organisation. Critics sta.te the bandsmen —artists every ono of them—tench' the rank and file of musicians the priceless lesson of cheerful allegiance tn the unfaltering confidence in their chief.
