The North Tslnnd Brass Rand Association's /thirteenth .annual contest was commenced this even inn, when the E flat soprano cornet and B flat baritone solos were played. The soprano event was won by Bandsman John Trussell (Wanganni Garrison), Bandsman Wilkinson (Gisbarne City Rand) bairnf* second, and Bandsman Watson (Manaia Municipal Band) third. There were ten competitors. The bnritons solo event was won by Bandsman George mensem Otanganui Garrison .linn Bandsman J. Cosgrove (Gisborne City B'' second. and Bandsman Thomn?; Cole (Nelson Garrison Bawd) third. There were seven competitors.
