The North German Lloyds reporE for 1909 shows that the profits were ,Cl,(i4-!V)50, being threefold those of 1908, but after providing for liabilities the comnany does not pay a dividend. This company sprang into existence in 185(5, initial operations talcing the form of lines to Hull and to London,. Extensions to many places have bee~i made, and the company has now n fleet of 195 ocean steamers, with a tonnage of 753,037 tons.
