DISCOVERY OF GOLD-BEARING QUARTZ AT THE WHITE CLEFES. The Taranaki News, of the 12th inst., has the following: —Mr Wright has shown us a very rich specimen of goldbearing quartz which h : s son found some time ago at or near the White Cliffs; it had been lying on the man-tle-shelf at his house for some time unnoticed, and the metal showing was thought to be mica till the recent prospecting for gold dre w-his attention to it, when on examination it proved to be a rich piece, of gold-bearing quartz, stated, as we have said, to come from the White Cliffs. Reefs of quartz with but a moiety of the gold in this specimen, would make, here, a more than payable gold-field.
