Mr Fuller suggested a list to the Governor, including Messrs Reynolds, Bagot, Townsend, Cavanagh, and Collins' and proposed to have Bagot or Reynolds sent for. The Governor, however, sent for Mr Strangways. Twenty-four members who support Mr Fuller intend opposing Strangways.
The Royal Agricultural Show was moderately successful. The showery weather affected the attendance.
A shock of earthquake was felt last night at the Burra arid Glare. Mr Valentine, Inspector of Sheep, was thrown from his trap yesterday, and had his leg broken above the ancle, The Governor has received no official intimation when Sir James Ferguson is likely to arrive. October 30. Another shock of earthquake is reported at Clare at 5 o’clock yesterday morning.
Mr Fuller in the Assembly expressed regret that the Governor had sent for Mr Strangways, and that his Excellency acted from influence be hind the scenes; Mr -Strangways spoke strongly as to the bad taste exhibited by Mr Fuller in speaking thus of the Governor. He stated that he had till Monday to form an Administration. November 2. Mr Strangways has not yet formed a ministry, but he is confident of succeeding by Monday next. Captain Dawson, of the Grenadier Guards, is appointed aidedercamp to the new Governor.
Legislation is to be initiated to settle doubts affecting mineral leases, which,, if carried, will quiet the Moonta difficulty. The weather is excessively hot and sultry. Detailed accounts as to the state of the northern crops show little rust yet.
