The arrival of tlie Star of tlie South from Wairoa on Thursday last-placed us, in possession of news to the effect that no mur ders had been committed iri that district; that the Hauhaus were nowhere to be seen; and that tlie women had declined to leave the distret. The arrival ot tlie St. Kilda with further news may be looked for hourly. Our own correspondent, writing under date Oot; 22, says :—“ Fighting wiil probably commence shortly, now: that we have an accession.. to our forces; Itwill; riot, however, be in the immediate vicinity of Clyde, the enemy haying fallen back some .distance.”' . =’ : • :7. : '
