(From the Argus.) SYDNEY. October 14. The Catholic clergy have commenced a series of meetings in aid of the movement for educating the Catholic youths without connection with the State. The captain of the Eliza Blanche reports having seen, a schooner, name unknown, founder off Dromedary on Thursdary. 4 A 30oz. nugget has been found at the new diggings on Clyde River. The Bruckley Castle has cleared for London with 2045 bales of wool, 458 casks of tallow, and 6469 hides. October 15. The markets are quiet. Small sales of Patna rice are reported at £3O. Sugars are dull. Brandies are firmer. In consequence of the strictures whith recently appeared in the newspapers, relative to the proposed ladies’ ball to H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh, the idea has been abandoned, and the decorations for the event, which had commenced at the Museum, have been suspended. . October 16. The Rev. S. C. Kent has been elected President of the Congregational Union. Trade is quiet. At auction the balance of the Fanny Nicholson’s cargo of sugars brought late rates. A portion of a - cargo, to arrive from Melbourne; was afterwards placed at a decline of £1 on the finer grades. / A new yacht club has been formed here, which promises to be a success. It is to be called the Prince Alfred Yacht Club.. Holders of brandies and rice, are firmer in their demands, and an adr vance in their demands, and an advance in price is probable^ Nothing has yet been done in Bertrand’s cfisp. . ‘ .. V

~ ; October 15. . The.cargo, of'tea, ex Frieiie, from Foo-chow-foo,; has all beep sold at satisfactory prices. . Cornsacks are very. firm. 25,000 bushels of-wheat were sold yesterday at 1 5s. Flour, £ll 10s to £l2. ; The advices by the mail state that the parcel r of bismuth forwarded to London by the company here, from their smelting works, had realised £125 per ton.
October 16. The cargo ex Crown, from Batavia, was all sold to day. Java coffee brought 9£d to 10|d; Java white, £l9 17s 6d to £25 ss; Java white crystal sugar, £33 15s to £36 ; low brown crystals, £2B 2s 6d to £29; white pepper, 9|d. Great satisfaction is expressed at the splendid run made by the Yatala, She was only. twenty-two days runaing down her longitude from the Cape.
A return has been made of the wheat and flour exported during the last nine months, the value of which is shown to be £834,000 sterling.
